Movie Poster Condition and Grading

Movie poster condition, condition grades and the practice of grading are essential aspects of collecting and valuing these iconic pieces of film history. Just as with any collectible item, the condition of a movie poster significantly influences its desirability and market value. Various grading standards exist to objectively assess a poster's state, considering factors such as wear, aging, and any damage. These grades, ranging from Gem Mint to Poor, provide collectors with a standardised way to evaluate posters based on their overall appearance, structural integrity and preservation. Understanding these grading criteria helps collectors make informed decisions when acquiring posters, ensuring they can appreciate and preserve these artworks for years to come while understanding their historical and monetary worth.

See our table below for the condition grades and definitions we work by and apply to to our posters.
